March 27th 2011 is the fourth Sunday in Maine, otherwise known at Maine Maple Sunday. This is when the producers of maple syrup in the state open their doors so you can see how they boil down maple sap into sugar. It’s a great family outing, depending on where you go. Last year we drove past two “sugar houses” (I swear they were nothing more than sheds bought from Lowe’s placed on their front lawns) before we wound up at sugar house. I can’t recall the name (UPDATE: Cooper’s Farm), but it was a large barn behind someone’s house. They also had a pancake breakfast to enjoy the syrup!
